Important Information

No experience is necessary. All aspiring wrestlers (girls and boys) in Kindergarten to Sixth grade are welcome.

Registration is due November 3. The registration fee is $125 for Mayfield School District residents, and $150 for non-residents. Each additional sibling is $75. Fees are due at time of registration.

To prepare for the season, wrestlers start with two weeks of conditioning. Conditioning is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Conditioning starts Monday, October 20, and ends Thursday, October 30.

Practices are designed to emphasize the fundamentals of the sport while imparting essential moves and skills. Practice takes place in the Mayfield High School wrestling room and the Wildcat Sport and Fitness Fieldhouse.

Starting November 3, practice is Monday and Thursday. Wrestlers are broken into two groups based on experience and readiness:

• Beginner Practice: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
• Advanced Practice: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

All wrestlers must wear a singlet as their uniform. MWC provides a singlet for the season. The singlet must be returned upon completion of the season. Wrestlers may wear a shirt under their singlet.

Other equipment such as wrestling shoes, headgear, knee pads, and practice gear is the responsibility of the participant. Mouthguards are required for wrestlers with braces. If a wrestler has braces and does not have a mouthguard, they will be disqualified and forfeit their match.

In order to run the best program possible for our athletes, we need parent participation. Each family must volunteer twice during the season. Volunteer opportunities can include: practice mat set up, cleaning mats, concession stand, registration and check in, scoring, and more.
